A shocking incident unfolded at Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s Faculty of Arts building. What started as a simple TikTok video recording turned into a violent confrontation between a student and her lecturer.
A viral video captured Dr. Chukwudi Michael, a lecturer from the Department of Theatre Arts, attempting to pass through a corridor. At the same time, a 300-level student from the Department of History and International Studies, identified as Goody Mbakwe Precious, was filming a dance video. As the lecturer passed, he tapped her shoulder and said, “Excuse me.”
However, she became upset and exclaimed, ‘Can you imagine how he just hit me?’
Eye witness recounts that Mr Michael returned back to confront the student after allegedly hearing her insult him. Reports suggest he also attempted to cease her phone, asking her to delete the TikTok video, as he did want to appear in it.
However the student refused to give him her phone, the situation worsened when she suddenly bit him—twice—on both arms.
The disagreement quickly turned physical as the student grabbed the lecturer’s clothes, refusing to let go.
Onlookers tried to intervene, but tensions ran high. In a viral video, Michael is seen raising his hands, seemingly trying to de-escalate the situation. However, the student continued lashing out, accusing him of assault.
UNIZIK’s Chief Security Officer, Ken Chukwurah, confirmed the incident. He stated that an internal investigation is ongoing and that the university will release an official statement once findings are complete.
Images circulating online show visible bite marks on the lecturer’s arms. Further reports claim the student is the daughter of a lecturer in the university’s Engineering Department.
