Kanoyo o Kanayo Raises Concerns Over Instagram Follower Count Decline
The well-known Nollywood veteran, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has recently expressed frustration with Instagram’s platform. Video
He shared his concerns directly through a video message on the social media site itself. The actor’s complaint centers around a noticeable drop in his follower count over several months.
His followers, previously numbering between 2.2 and 2.3 million, have consequently been reduced to 1.9 million. Additionally, Kanayo finds it implausible that he hasn’t gained even one thousand new followers during this period. Therefore, he suspects unfair treatment by the platform.
The issue, however, is not peculiar to his account alone. Subsequently, Kanayo emphasized that many African content creators are experiencing similar problems.
The actor has directly called upon Instagram’s parent company, Meta, to address these concerns.
“We are using a platform that we have no control over and the way that they are treated is very bad,” he stated.
In addition, he requested that content creators be treated with more consideration. Finally, Kanayo pointed out that fair treatment would be mutually beneficial for both content creators and the platform itself.
