Shallipopi Reveals Smoking Is Just for Show
Nigerian artist Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, surprisingly disclosed in a recent interview with Soundcity that he does not smoke.
The artist whose image often features the iconic puff of smoke, insists it’s purely for aesthetic purposes, despite frequently being seen with cigarettes in his music videos and photoshoots.
“One thing my fans don’t know about me is that I don’t smoke; it’s just aesthetic,” Shallipopi stated during the interview.
The Edo state musician has surprised many by his statement, especially considering his well-known track with Zerrydl, “Puff and Pass,” which celebrates the act of smoking.
Shallipopi’s declaration is particularly surprising given that he uses the term “puff” in most of his music and visual content.
Many would assume that his lyrics and visuals were reflections of his personal experiences and lifestyle.
Meanwhile, for Shallipopi, the cigarette is merely a prop, a tool to enhance his artistic vision and create a particular vibe in his music and visuals.
Shallipopi’s statement is a reminder that not everything is as it seems.
