The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reopened its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) portal, giving Nigerians fresh access to register, update, or replace their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The online pre-registration phase kicked off today, allowing eligible citizens to sign up, correct personal details, request polling unit transfers, and apply for replacement cards. According to INEC, the online exercise is completely free and designed to reduce long queues at registration centres.
INEC announced that physical registration and biometric capture will commence nationwide on August 25, 2025 at its state and local government offices. This step will finalize voter enrollment and ensure proper verification before the elections.
The Commission urged Nigerians, particularly first-time voters, to take advantage of the window, stressing that only those with valid PVCs will be allowed to cast their ballots in 2027.
More details are expected from INEC offices across the country as the registration exercise gathers momentum.
