    Burna Boy wins ‘Best African Act’

    Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, a Nigerian singer, has won the award for best African act at the 2022 MTV European Music Awards.

    Burna Boy was nominated alongside Ayra Starr, Musa Keys, Tems, Zuchu, and Black Sheriff for the award show, which took place on Sunday.

    Though announced as the winner, Burna was not available to receive the award.

    Burna Boy is the first Nigerian solo artist to receive a Grammy nomination.

    Despite the fact that other Nigerians such as Femi Kuti, Sikiru Adepoju, and Babatunde Olatunji were nominated before Burna Boy, he is the first to be nominated twice at the Grammy Awards, in 2020 and 2021, where he won.

    That, however, is just a taste of what’s to come. Burna Boy is the first Nigerian to win a Grammy as a solo artist for his incredible album “Twice As Tall.” Although he is not the first to receive the award, he is the first to do so in his class and ability.

    Burna Boy has been on a roll recently, and he does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. He appeared on Beyonce’s star-studded album The Lion King: The Gift, performed at the well-known music festival Coachella and was named Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards.

    The star’s desire to become a superhero inspired the name Burna Boy. The comic book collector used to draw his own characters and imagine himself as a superhero with a distinctive superhero name, so he chose Burna.

    BREAKING: EFCC arrests Bobrisky over naira abuse

    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken into custody Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, a figure known for controversial behavior including the abuse of Nigerian currency, spraying of naira notes, and engaging in currency mutilation.

    Bobrisky was apprehended in Lagos during the evening hours of Wednesday and is currently being held at the Lagos Command of the EFCC. Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed this development in a telephone interview on Thursday, stating that Bobrisky will face charges in court.

    Reports from sources close to him confirm that the comedian died at Evercare Hospital. Fans have been expressing their condolences on social media, recalling the movies in which the late actor appeared.
