From Pulpit to Prison: Gospel Artist’s Timileyin Arrested For Allegedly Murdering His Girlfriend.
Gospel singer and fitness enthusiast Oluwatimileyin Ajayi was arrested on Sunday 12th January after his girlfriend’s head was found in a nylon bag near a church in Orozo, located on the border of Nasarawa State and the Federal Capital Territory.
As reported by Punch, Caleb Umaru, the church’s Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, explained that during the final prayers around 11 AM, a congregant named Brother Victor noticed someone acting strangely near the river beside the church.
“His movements caught my attention immediately,” reported Brother Victor, who along with another church member, Brother Amos, witnessed the suspect attempting to dispose of a black nylon bag in the river.
When questioned about his actions, the gospel artist and TikTok creator initially stayed silent but then tried to escape. He was quickly pursued and eventually caught.
During police questioning, Ajayi revealed he had been in a relationship with the victim for approximately one year. The situation allegedly escalated when he discovered messages between his girlfriend and another man, leading to a heated confrontation.
Ajayi claimed that during the argument, his girlfriend had injured his hand with a knife, after which he stabbed her severally on the neck with the same knife.
The mystery remains as to why gospel singer Timileyin, a native of Kabba in Kogi State, claimed he was delivering the head to a woman who had directed him to bring it to her.
While it was reported initially that the incident took place in the Federal Capital Territory, DSP Josephine Adeh, speaking on behalf of the FCT Police Command, clarified that the crime occurred within Nasarawa State’s jurisdiction. “This incident did not occur in the Federal Capital Territory but in Nasarawa State,” the spokesperson emphasized, highlighting the importance of accurate reporting in such serious cases.
Law enforcement officials have taken Ajayi into custody as they continue their investigation into this tragic event.
