What Really Happened VDM Impersonating Nigeria Police Force?
Popular social media critic Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), shocked fans by landing on the wrong side of the law again.
On Thursday, October 30th, the police detained VDM for impersonation of the Nigerian police force in a viral video.
The video showed him wearing a costume strikingly similar to that of the Nigerian Police Force and referring to himself as a “Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).” VIRAL VIDEO
The influencer, famous for his critical stance and sometimes harsh commentary on social issues, especially those affecting Nigerian law enforcers and legal professionals, faced detention the following day at the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja.
The court charged VDM with unauthorized use of a police uniform and imposed bail at N2 million with strict conditions.
Given VDM’s previous controversial statements against Nigerian Law enforcers and Legal Professionals, no one expected his apology.
However, in a viral video, he addressed his fans and followers, apologizing for his actions.
He humbly expressed regret for his behaviour and advised the masses to always seek permission before putting on a similar regalia to that of any force.
The Nigeria Police Force warned that the misuse of police uniforms and symbols undermines the integrity of the force and constitutes a serious offense.
This situation reminds content creators that while creativity is encouraged, it must not cross legal boundaries.
