ASIA: Thai activist arrested for burning King’s portrait.

Musician and activist, Chaiamorn “Ammy” ,32 was arrested on Sunday in Ayutthaya province north of Bangkok , who was accused of “setting King’s portrait on fire”. In front of a Bangkok prison where four prominent activists were being held.

Chaiamorn is charged under a strict lese majested law that carries a Penalty of 15 ~years in prison , if found guilty.

Dozens of people were charged in recent months for insulting the monarchy.

According to his lawyer, Sasinan Thamnithinan said “he would be granted access to Chaiamorn later on Wednesday, when police take a statement from his client.

Four prominent protest leaders are currently in prison awaiting trial.
